The 3rd Annual Ed Asner and Friends Poker Tournament for Autism Speaks took place September 12 at Haworth’s beautiful Downtown Los Angeles showroom. The event, co-sponsored by Kamus + Keller and other firms in the commercial real estate industry, raised $10,000 more than last year’s tournament, bringing in over $51,000 for the Los Angeles chapter of Autism Speaks. Marketing Director Kristen Mays remarked, “I was deeply honored to participate as a committee member for this year’s poker tournament, as this is a cause near and dear to my heart. With a current diagnosis rate of 1 in 68, it is humbling to see so many members of our community come out in full support for autism awareness and raise money for this incredible organization.”
Numerous celebrities also came out in support of this vital cause including Ed Begley Jr., Evan Handler, Max Burkholder, Kevin Strom, Elizabeth Carlisle, Johnny Downers, and man-of-the-hour Ed Asner. The action-packed evening featured a silent auction, with donated prizes such as a Chris Paul LA Clippers jersey, a “date” with Ed Asner, and a Klingon Bat’leth replica from Star Trek Next Generation. Michael Frieberg with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank won the tournament, and was awarded the covetable grand prize of a weekend at the gorgeous Double Eagle Resort in June Lake, CA.
Kamus + Keller is proud of our continued support of Autism Speaks, and offer all our thanks to our partners on this event as well as those who generously participated in the tournament.
